When I look back at my past works, I spent many hours working on the “arrangement” of the different elements. This is a creative and important process for me.
The arrangement, as a result, creates fascination. Reflecting on the relationship between the elements leads to further inquiry and possibilities.
For example, placing unrelated elements next to each other may look odd and create a sense of abstract at the same time. This is similar to the pursuit of next generation art. It leads to infinite possibilities. Having doubts about the relationships between various things takes us to an ulterior world.
We are born surrounded by arrangements of unrelated elements. We live with questions about them and rearrange them. I believe having doubts enriches our daily life and is an act of creating our own future.
Depicting and capturing a fascinating arrangement of elements is a process. It is an artwork that I hope someone might question and reconfigure in their minds.
The elements in the artworks vary widely: from history, domestic issues and parody to subtle daily trends. My works demonstrate how the present is formed as a consequence of the arrangement of different matters.
They create a form that encourages viewers to imagine and discuss how elements might be arranged in the future as a result of this process. I aim to create a form of Japanese painting that is not a mere decoration.
