Pengyu Chen was born in Taipei in 1984. She received her PhD from the University of Tsukuba (2017), she is now a lecturer at Tama Art University. Chen is originally from Taiwan and pursue her creative activities in Japan, regards herself as a butterfly traveling back and forth between the mainland and Taiwan. The theme of her artworks is a journey. Traveling between Taiwan and Italy or Japan will give the artist the insights regarding the various aspects that Taiwan faces today.

Hope takes a ride on my dream
To dance in this endless world

The moment of emergence comes
A small seed of hope sleeping in a darkness
Having exposed to the sunlight jt awakes
And flies high to the sky

At that moment the world shines
It is an opening of a new future
