Kunihiko NOHARA works in a wide range of genres with a focus on three-dimensional pieces. The worlds he’s been creating combines “happy” and “delicious” with a unique nostalgia. It may seem strange at first glance, but it soon turns into a positive impression. At major art fairs in Japan such as Art Fair Tokyo, his style leaves a strong impact on those who see his work for the first time.
Born in 1982 in Hokkaido, Japan

The logo of Ritz-Carlton, a lion and a crown, a luxurious image, and a healing space. NOHARA developed the design from “Lion and Peony,” a pattern familiar in Japan since ancient times, which features the imposing figure of a lion with a beautiful peony flower. The lion is the king of all beasts, but it fears only one thing: insects. These pests can parasitize the lion’s body and threaten its life. However, the pests avoid the night dew of the peony flower, allowing the lion to sleep peacefully under it. Thus, the peony flower provides a safe haven for the lion.
